Measure the outdoor space
We visit to measure the BBQ surround footprint, note any appliance cutouts (cooktop, burner, sink, ice bin), confirm the bar overhang, and see how the counter connects to the patio, deck, or shelter above.
Design for drainage
Forms are built with a slight slope on every horizontal surface so water sheds rather than pools. Edge details are profiled to direct meltwater away from the slab face. Reinforcement is sized for the spans and the freeze-thaw environment.
Pour and finish the slab
The concrete is air-entrained for freeze-thaw durability, placed and consolidated, cured on schedule, then ground and honed to the finish you chose. Outdoor counters often get a slightly textured surface for grip and traction.
Seal and schedule maintenance
An exterior sealer rated for UV, freeze-thaw, and salt is applied. We provide a re-seal schedule (typically every few years in Boston) so you know when to refresh the surface and keep it looking sharp.
