Substrate to finish
How Ardex Concrete Systems Solve Slab Problems
A concrete floor's final appearance depends entirely on what lies beneath. Ardex solves this with self-leveling underlayments (K-15, K-60) that flow across an uneven slab and cure to a flat, stable base ready for any topcoat without showing the old slab's imperfections.
For slabs that are too far gone to level, Ardex thin overlays (Feather Finish, SD-M, WJ-50) bond directly to prepared concrete and create a new seamless surface in a fraction of the thickness of a full pour. Ardex repair mortars patch spalls and damage first, so the overlay or finish has a sound substrate.
Moisture is handled by Ardex waterproofing membranes, which protect wet rooms and below-grade spaces. The same Ardex foundation runs our commercial epoxy floors and industrial warehouse coatings.
Installation sequence
The Ardex Install Process in Boston
-
Assess and select the product
We evaluate the slab condition, moisture profile and intended finish, then lock in which Ardex products and sequence will deliver the result.
-
Prepare the concrete base
The slab is mechanically profiled to the spec, moisture-tested, and primed with the Ardex primer system, not a substitute or shortcut.
-
Apply the Ardex system
Primer, body coat or self-leveler, and topcoat or waterproofing layer go down in sequence at the temperature and timing the manufacturer requires.
-
Document and hand off
Each layer cures on schedule before the next is applied. You receive product data sheets and the install record so warranty coverage is complete.
Certified installer advantage
What Ardex Certified Installer Status Delivers
Being an Ardex Certified Installer means we have been trained on the product system, understand the failure modes, and install to the full manufacturer warranty. For you, that translates to work done exactly as Ardex tested and validated it.
This same standards-based approach extends across the other brands we partner with, including Mapei, Sika and our full product brand portfolio. Proper prep, proper materials, proper execution.
