Below-grade protection

Where Sika Waterproofing Stops Water in Boston

Concrete moves. Temperature swings, freeze-thaw cycles, and ground settlement all shift the slab and walls. A rigid waterproofing coating cracks when the substrate moves, and water finds the gap. Sika waterproofing membranes (Sikalastic, Sikagard) are elastomeric, meaning they flex with the concrete instead of breaking apart.

We apply Sika waterproofing systems to foundation walls, basement slabs, and wet rooms. The elastomeric chemistry bonds to the concrete and moves with it, keeping water out through the Boston freeze-thaw cycle. Basement waterproofing with Sika is where this flexibility pays back most, because the pressure is constant and the stakes are high.

When a crack is already there and leaking, Sika crack injection (SikaFix HH polyurethane) fills it from inside without excavation. For spalled or damaged concrete, Sika MonoTop repair mortars rebuild the profile, and SikaTop floor systems finish the surface.

Installation sequence

How Sika Systems Get Installed Right

  1. Assess the concrete and pick the line

We evaluate the substrate condition, moisture level, and whether the job is waterproofing, injection, repair, or flooring. The right Sika product line depends on all three.

  2. Prepare the surface to spec

Concrete is cleaned, routed, and dried to the moisture content Sika requires. Cracks are opened and prepped for injection if that is the repair path.

  3. Apply primer, body, topcoat in sequence

Each layer goes down at the temperature and thickness the Sika spec calls for, with the right cure time between coats. This is what keeps the warranty valid.

  4. Document and hand over data

The install is photographed, the product data sheets are provided, and you have the record for any future work or warranty claim.

Injection and repair

Sika Crack Injection & Repair Mortars

An active leak through a foundation wall or basement slab does not always need excavation. Sika crack injection with SikaFix HH polyurethane fills the crack from inside, sealing it and stabilizing the substrate at the same time. The polyurethane expands slightly as it cures, filling voids and micro-cracks the eye cannot see.

For concrete that is spalled, scaled, or structurally compromised, Sika MonoTop repair mortars rebuild the concrete to the original profile and strength. We choose the chemistry based on whether the repair is cosmetic or load-bearing. Foundation repair and basement crack repair both benefit from this targeted approach. The result is a repair that performs like the original concrete, not a patch that fails again next season.

Common questions

Sika Questions Answered

Waterproofing, injection, repair and warranty in Boston.

Often, yes. Sika crack injection with SikaFix HH polyurethane seals active cracks from inside the wall and stops the leak, without needing to excavate the outside of the foundation in most cases.
Sika waterproofing is a system applied to a whole wall or slab to keep water out. Crack injection is a targeted repair that seals a specific crack already letting water through.
Yes, the right one can. Sika MonoTop repair mortars rebuild spalled and structural concrete to original profile and strength, with the chemistry chosen to suit whether the repair is cosmetic or load-bearing.
Because elastomeric chemistry actually flexes with concrete movement. A rigid coating cracks where the substrate moves, and the leak comes back. Sika systems were developed to flex and seal, which is why they hold up below grade.
Yes. We install Sika products as a system, primer, body and topcoat in the published sequence and chemistry. That is what keeps the manufacturer warranty intact and what makes the install actually perform.

★★★★★

Sika crack injection stopped a leak we had chased with caulking for years. They sealed it from inside and the basement has been dry through two springs.

★★★★★

Full Sika waterproofing on a new foundation. Elastomeric so it can flex with the concrete and not crack off the way the old rigid coating did.

★★★★★

SikaTop repair on a worn loading-dock area. Profile is exact, took our forklift traffic, and they handed over the data sheets for our records.

J. E.
Commercial property manager
★★★★★

They install Sika as a full system, not just a coat of the product they have on the truck. That difference shows up in how long the install holds.
