Lithium-Safe EV Battery Flooring for Boston Facilities
Lithium-ion battery production floors face a unique combination of hazards: electrolyte spills, solvent exposure, and static-sensitive cell assembly all on the same slab. Boston Concrete engineers and installs hybrid epoxy systems that resist chemical attack while maintaining ESD-controlled resistance for sensitive electronics. We work with your process team to confirm chemistry and grounding requirements, then deliver a floor that passes both spill and static testing.

Industry-specific engineering
Why EV Battery Flooring Is Not Standard Industrial Concrete
Ten years ago, EV battery manufacturing did not exist as a commercial sector. Today it does, and the floor requirements reflect that newness. A battery facility needs chemical resistance to lithium and organic electrolytes (carbonate-based solvents, formation chemicals, cleaning agents), plus ESD dissipation for sensitive cell handling. Neither standard chemical-resistant epoxy nor standard ESD flooring alone meets both demands.
The hybrid system we install combines urethane chemistry for spill resistance with conductive elements for static control. We work with your engineering team to confirm the exact electrolyte composition, the ESD resistance range your cell handlers require, and any clean-room adjacency. Then we spec and install to those parameters, not to a generic template.
Our chemical-resistant flooring work covers the spill side. Our ESD flooring covers the static side. The EV battery flooring service brings both together, with clean room concrete floors available for sealed-process zones in the same facility.

How We Build EV Battery Floors in Boston
-
Assess chemistry and ESD range
We meet with your process engineering team to document the specific lithium chemistry, electrolyte composition, solvents in use, and the megohm resistance range your ESD program requires for cell handling.
-
Prepare the slab surface
The concrete slab is diamond-ground to remove all contaminants, old coatings, and surface laitance. The prep profile matches the hybrid system's adhesion requirements, leaving a clean, primed surface ready for epoxy application.
-
Apply hybrid epoxy system
The matched urethane-epoxy hybrid is applied in controlled layers, with conductive elements embedded for ESD dissipation. Grounding straps are installed at engineered points to tie the floor to the building electrical system.
-
Test and document compliance
After full cure, megohmmeter testing is performed at multiple floor locations to verify ESD resistance is within your facility's required range. Chemical-resistance ratings and all test results are documented for your records and customer audits.
Hybrid system advantage
One Floor, Two Critical Functions
A pure chemical-resistant urethane will fail under ESD-sensitive cell assembly because its resistance is too high for static dissipation. A pure ESD epoxy will fail under electrolyte spills because it lacks chemical resistance. The hybrid system handles both because battery production demands both.
We coordinate with clean room concrete floors in sealed-process zones and with our broader manufacturing concrete services for non-battery areas of your facility. Zone-specific specs mean the right floor in the right place.

Common questions
EV Battery Flooring Questions, Answered
Lithium electrolyte exposure, ESD resistance ranges and hybrid system spec.
Hybrid chemical/ESD system across our cell assembly zones. Three years of operation, electrolyte spills cleaned up without floor damage, ESD verification still in range. Engineering for both requirements is what made it work.
They knew the EV battery industry was different from standard manufacturing or standard ESD work. The hybrid spec made sense once explained; the install matched the spec exactly.
Different system in our pack assembly zone (more vehicle-load) than in cell assembly (more ESD). Right tool per zone, not one floor everywhere. The match is what we needed.
Documentation package supported our customer audit for an OEM contract. The compliance side mattered as much as the install quality. Real industry awareness.
