Metallic Epoxy Garage Floors in Boston

A metallic epoxy garage floor turns the slab into a statement surface. Boston Concrete installs metallic epoxy systems where pigment moves through the body coat to create a marbled, three-dimensional finish that catches light differently from every angle, then locks it in under a tough clear topcoat that takes hot tires, road salt and daily use. More than colour

What Makes a Metallic Epoxy Garage Floor Different

A standard epoxy garage floor uses one solid colour or a broadcast flake. Metallic epoxy works differently: metallic pigment is added to the clear body coat and physically moved during installation, with rollers, brushes and air, so the pigment forms swirls, clouds and depth that read three-dimensional.

No two metallic floors are exactly alike. The installer technique, the pigment colour blend, even the temperature on install day all shift the final look. Done well, the result is a statement-floor finish that costs less than tile or stone and stands up to garage use.

Underneath it is still a pro-installed coating, mechanical slab prep, primer, metallic body coat, then a tough clear topcoat for the durability. Compare with polyaspartic for faster cure or polished concrete for no coating at all.

How it works

How We Install a Metallic Epoxy Garage Floor in Boston

  1. Choose metallic colour blend

We bring metallic pigment sample boards in daylight, you pick the colour or blend of colours, and we confirm the look on a small test area before the main install.

  2. Prep garage for metallic

The slab is mechanically ground to the manufacturer-specified profile, repaired, moisture-tested, and primed with the matched primer for the metallic system above.

  3. Move pigment with the metallic body coat

The clear body coat is mixed with metallic pigment and worked into the floor with rollers, brushes and air, moving the pigment to form the marbled three-dimensional effect.

  4. Topcoat and cure metallic

Once the metallic body cures, a tough clear topcoat goes over to lock in the look and protect against hot tires, salt and impact, then the floor cures for traffic and load.

Showroom floor, garage use

Metallic vs Standard Epoxy and Polyaspartic

Standard epoxy with broadcast flake is the value choice; metallic epoxy is the premium look. Both are pro-installed coatings with the same prep discipline; the metallic body coat is what creates the showroom finish.

Polyaspartic can also be installed as a metallic system with faster cure. Polished concrete goes the other direction, no coating at all, just the slab itself densified and polished. When a previous coating has failed, garage floor repair rebuilds the system properly.

Common questions

Metallic Epoxy Garage Floor Questions, Answered

Look, durability, colour blends and how metallic compares to standard epoxy in Boston.

Metallic epoxy is variable by nature, the look depends on installer technique, pigment blend and conditions on the day. The sample shows the colour and style; the final floor will be in that family but uniquely yours.
Yes, because the topcoat over the metallic body is the same tough garage-grade topcoat used on standard epoxy. The metallic body coat sits below the topcoat, so impact, hot tires and salt hit the topcoat first.
Metallic carries a premium over standard epoxy because of the pigment, the body-coat technique and the installer time. We quote both side by side so you can compare for your garage.
Most colours and many multi-colour blends are available, blues and greens, warm earth tones, monochrome whites and greys, and combinations. We bring sample boards and recommend blends that suit garage use and read well across a large floor.
Not when finished for the use. The topcoat can include slip-resistant aggregate broadcast into the surface, giving traction even when the floor is wet or splashed.

Metallic epoxy in a deep blue blend across the shop garage. The depth catches the lights and looks like a showroom, but it handles dropped wrenches and brake fluid just fine.

They did a small test area first so we could see how the metallic moved before committing. Final floor is exactly the look we picked, just at full scale.

Marbled monochrome whites and greys. Looks like polished marble until you realise it is concrete. The topcoat has shrugged off a winter of salt without losing the gloss.

Bought a sports car after the floor went in and the garage finally felt worthy of it. Compliments every time someone visits.
